(ASCEND) Now what ??

Not too long ago I purchased a p50.

When purchasing I required to be able to have to connection profiles
for outbound calls but each required a separate chap username.

I was told (at the time) that the latest verions had this feature.

Unfortunately until the other day when I actually had to bring up the
second connection did I realise that software load did not have this
feature.

I subsequently sent a request to ascend to inform me what is the
software load I required.

Very quickly I got a response and they opened a ticket on it.

Within a day the following was received...

The ability to configure a Send name in a connection profile was made
available in
version 6.1.7 and only works in "rev 2" motherboards. These are
identified
by having no
switch on the back of the unit. "Rev 1" (older) units can be upgraded
up
till version 6.0.9 only.

I don't fault the support, but this is rather embarrassing, so now I
either supply my customer with a later model (which I thought I got
originally) or another brand. I guess it will be another brand as I
have now loss faith in the suppliers & Ascend to some degree.

Now has anyone found a way around this problem with another load
which should work in this p50 ??
